This page distinguishes what Michigan Court Docket can help locate from requests that must go to an official court. We do not operate a clerk counter or statewide records office. MiCOURT is a public search for participating courts, while local clerks keep the registers and case files. The Michigan Trial Court Directory and county directory route a record question to the right court level and office.

This Is Not a Court or Government Office. Michigan Court Docket is privately operated. We cannot retrieve an official case file, reset a hearing, change a court date, seal a record, issue a certified copy, or advise how law applies to a case. Those requests belong with the court or clerk that keeps the record.

Need an Official Docket or Record?

For an official Michigan court record, use the route that matches the question:

  • A complete register or filing: identify whether the matter is Circuit, District, Probate, or Municipal Court, then use the County Directory to reach the local court site or clerk. Circuit files are maintained by the County Clerk as Circuit Court Clerk; District and Probate records have separate custodians.
  • A hearing date: check the Court Dates page and confirm a current setting with the clerk or court coordinator listed in the Michigan Trial Court Directory.
  • A certified copy: request it from the clerk for the court that issued the record. The County Directory routes to local trial-court information, and each court sets its own copy procedure.
  • A statewide case lookup: use Case Lookup for participating courts, then go to the local portal if the court or record is outside its coverage.
  • Which court holds the file: review the Court System hierarchy and the court named on the citation, summons, or order.

The statewide case index can help identify a matter, but Michigan’s local court clerk keeps the official register and issues a certified copy. Use the county directory or Trial Court Directory to reach the office for the exact court and case type.
