Why We Built This Site
Michigan has a statewide court system, but a case register still belongs to the court that received the filing. MiCOURT can help locate a public case at participating courts, yet it does not cover every court, case type, or document image. Circuit Court matters are maintained by the County Clerk acting as Circuit Court Clerk; District Court records belong to the District Court Clerk, and Probate files are kept by the Register of Probate. That split can make it hard to know where to begin.
We created this private reference site to explain the statewide search, the court hierarchy, and the local clerk routes. A statewide result can identify the case, but the full register of actions, filed documents, and certified copies come from the office that holds the record. The county directory points toward local court resources across all 83 Michigan counties, while the court system page explains how the state and local layers fit together.
What You Will Find Here
- Case registers: guides to Criminal Docket Search and Civil Docket Search explain how to find criminal and civil case activity across Michigan.
- Dates and tickets: the Court Dates and Traffic Tickets pages explain how to confirm a setting or route a citation to the issuing court.
- Case lookup: the public MiCOURT workflow by party name or case number, plus local alternatives.
- Records requests: where Michigan clerks provide records, transcripts, and certified copies, as explained in Court Record Search.
- Statewide structure: which court keeps which record, covered in the Court System guide.
- Local routing: use the County Directory to reach county court sites and clerks.
What We Cannot Do
Michigan Court Docket is a privately operated reference service, not part of the Michigan judiciary or a county government. The limits are straightforward:
- We cannot retrieve an official register or court case file for a reader.
- We cannot set, change, confirm, or reset a hearing date.
- We cannot seal, remove, or correct an entry in a court record.
- We cannot issue a certified copy of an order, judgment, or register.
- We cannot give legal advice about an individual charge, case, or deadline.
- We cannot promise that a local fee, phone number, or procedure has not changed.
Only the court or clerk that holds a Michigan case can confirm its official register or issue a certified copy. This reference site can point to the right office, but the record must come from its custodian.
Search Partners
Some search boxes are operated by outside providers. Those companies set the terms, charges, and practices for their own tools. If a visitor chooses a paid partner service, Michigan Court Docket may receive a referral fee. That revenue helps support the reference material. We do not control the provider’s prices, data handling, or search results.
